The capital city of WA, Perth is dominated by the state’s huge resource extraction industry (mining and extraction of oil and natural gas), a crucial cornerstone of the Australian economy. The city is warm throughout the year and commonly ranked among the world’s top 10 most liveable cities. Perth had a population of over 2 million as of 2015, is a major tourist destination and supports a large sporting and arts community. Students choosing to study in Perth can have the pleasure of an outdoor lifestyle year-round, as the city is well set up for walking and cycling. The city has a great deal of parkland, and between September and November, the Western Australian wildflower season turns Perth’s parks and coastal trails bright with colour.
